OUR KAUPAPA

Kia ora!

We’re Zoë and Sacha – old friends, lawyers and marriage/civil union celebrants. We think it’s pretty neat getting to play a small part in bringing people together and celebrating love, in all its many flavours. And because we’re nerdy lawyers during the day, we’re pretty good at making sure all the official stuff is taken care of, so you don’t have to worry about it.

These days there seems to be two main types of weddings – a big formal affair (that comes with a big price tag), or a simple registry-office ceremony (complete with a portrait of Queen Lizzie in the background!)

We want to provide a new wedding alternative that takes all the good bits from both – special moments with your special people in a beautiful space, with great food, a few toasts, and lots of good vibes.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Orphans Kitchen – who are pretty good at bringing together food, whānau, and community. What could be more perfect.

UNION + ORPHANS KITCHEN

We take care of the legal stuff and the ceremony and Orphans Kitchen takes care of the food and drinks - all for an affordable one-off fee. Optional professional photography is also available.

CEREMONY

30 minutes to get all mushy in front of your special people in the Orphans Kitchen upstairs private venue.

The ceremony will take place in the beautiful upstairs area of the Orphans Kitchen villa. In this light, cosy and private space, you’ll say your “I dos” and make it all official.

This space will comfortably fit you and (up to) 16 guests, so you’re guaranteed to be surrounded by your besties.

Once you have made your booking, we will send you a comprehensive information pack setting out how the ceremony will run and how we can tailor it to suit you as a couple. We think it’s really special when those who are nearest and dearest to the couple are involved in the ceremony too, so there will be an opportunity for your witnesses to say a few words either before/after the vows. Also, we’d love to do our best to incorporate whatever traditions and language feels right for you (e.g. te reo Māori).

FOOD AND DRINK

Fresh and unique offerings from our friends at Orphans Kitchen to eat and drink.

After the ceremony, it’s time to celebrate. The incredible team at Orphans Kitchen have got you covered.

Depending on whether you want to celebrate with some bubbles and nibbles (before taking the celebrations out on the town), or progress to a sit-down dinner, or have use of the exclusive dining area for a full-whānau feast, we’ve sorted a package to suit your needs (and budget!)

We’ve organised each package into one easy, affordable, up-front fee so you have nothing to worry about on the day. Simply choose which dining option works best for you, lock in the number of guests, and we will take care the rest.

The team at Orphans Kitchen are (award-winningly) good at what they do – you and your guests will be treated to delicious, locally sourced and expertly prepared food, and some pretty nice tipple to match.

PHOTOS

30 beautiful photos to enjoy and reminisce over when you’re old and grey.

We totally get it – the only thing better than making memories is having them captured and shared. And who doesn’t want that one perfect picture for the mantle piece (… or the gram).

We know that wedding photography doesn’t come cheap, so we are delighted to partner with the very talented Shannah Mae who is available to take some snaps of your celebrations and to provide you with 30 select digital photographs.

Shannah Mae will capture some of your special moments with you and your guests during the ceremony and before you move onto your celebrations - in total around 30 minutes.
